Dear Friends,
So many of you have called or e-mailed to ask what is happening to Lorna - here is the latest update:
A few days before Christmas Lorna was experiencing severe pains in her left side. Finally, she went back to the Emergency Room at NYU Hospital where it was discovered she had blood clots in her lungs. She was immediately admitted into the hospital ICU and stayed there, kept under a watchful eye, for a few days before being judged to be out of immediate danger and moved to the regular oncology floor. This was her third hospital visit in a month.
A few days after Christmas it was deemed that she was well enough to leave hospital and go home but right at that point her heart started to go into failure and everything went into high gear again. It was just a stroke of luck that the heart didn't give out in the cab on the way home.
The fluid was again building in her lungs and she was immediately given medications to help eliminate fluid from the body.
She was finally released from hospital New Year's Eve and is now at home taking life very easy.
All her recent problems are a direct result of the chemo therapy. That therapy has now been stopped and with the heart and blood thinner medications she is on, she is stabalized and hopefully will get better and better day-by-day.
It has been a very upsetting and scarey time for all Lorna's friends but we know that everyone is surrounding her with love and concern and Lorna is very aware and grateful of all those pulling for her.
Hopefully, we will not be posting any more of these sort of updates - that in future, all our postings will be speaking of the marvellous progress Lorna is making.
