Dear Friends,
October, my very favorite month and I'm feeling terrific if not a little wary since I was feeling terrific this time last year and then I tripped and broke my knee!
It seems that I've been running around a lot. This past Tuesday I went on a seven-hour train ride to Windsor, Vermont and returned to NY on Thursday, only to get up at 4:15 Friday morning in order to ride on Long Island (where I am now). I decided to stay out here with friends since I'm going on a sort of mini-hunt tomorrow; I'll be riding Buddy, not a very classy name but a lovely horse. Get to wear all my new gear!
The scenery on the long train ride to Vermont was simply breathtaking, through Connecticut and Massachusetts, the sky a brilliant blue and the trees on the hills and in the valleys ablaze in autumnal glory. You sort of want to hold it to really press it into your mind, but like everything else, it passes.
I stayed with a dear friend in Vermont and spoke to the women in her book club. They were the first group of women I'd been with who didn't ask me why I had a pink streak in my hair - quite amazing.
The other wonderful aspect of the long train ride was being able to write three additional chapters for my new book. I keep being asked when it will be finished and the answer is: I don't know. I guess it will be finished when its finished but I'm hoping, hoping by the spring. The process is very satisfying and I suppose that's what its really all about.
I have a busy month coming up: Philadelphia, Naples & Boca Raton, Florida and Las Vegas for Thanksgiving. I've never been to Las Vegas, should be quite an experience.
