Have I written about my new obsession: riding? I think not. I know I did mentioned it in a previous entry but I haven't spoken about what it has become for me.
When I first rode in July last year, I made a vow that I wouldn't let a week pass that I wasn't on a horse. So far, I've managed to keep that vow - even on my five week silent retreat, I was able to ride - it was such a meditative experience. Everywhere I go I try to ride. Last week I was in Texas - in Tyler - I found a stable nearby and I took a lesson on a beautiful thoroughbred which stood at least 17 hands, a magnificent creature, such a priviledge.
Next month, I have a speaking engagement in Kentucky, followed by another commitment the following weekend in Alabama, so I decided to stay in Kentucky for the week and devote the time to riding. Would it not be foolish to be in Kentucky of all places and not ride?
I must say I'm leading this rather grand-sounding life-style but goodness knows where the money will come to pay for it all. However, I have faith that all will work out since I am sure God has not led me into this new venture without providing the means by which to continue.
I've also taken up Bikram Yoga - a yoga practiced in an extremely hot room - I mean hot! It's 110 degrees and one sweats buckets, but I think it's rather wonderful. I've only just started so I'll be able to make a better judgement when I've been doing it a while.
Not making much progress with my book, but I am plodding along.
Metta.
