Yesterday I had my angiogram. It had been postponed because I was on blood thinners and had to be off them for five days before any kind of surgery could be begun. The result is that I have a severely torn mitral valve which will need repair.

I am to be scheduled for heart surgery next week but beforehand my oncologist wants a PET scan to see that no breast cancer cells are involved. Once the PET scan has been completed then an actual date for surgery can be set.

I need this surgery and waiting will just increase the chances of it getting worse, so am anxious to get going.

It's all very disturbing. Makes me feel incredibly lonely.
