Surgery is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, August 2nd.

I will be in hospital recovering from the operation anywhere from five to ten days and then ten days in rehab. I was reluctant to go into a hospital rehab but was then assured it's like a spa and that I wasn't allowed to come home in any case because I have to walk up two flights of stairs.

A friend, Joe, is flying in from LA Sunday night and he will stay here in my apartment for five days and take me through all the preliminary stuff: taking me for pre-op tests and to the hospital and just generally be with me holding my hand. So that will be a great comfort.

From now on he will post information on this site until I'm out and able to do it myself.
